Craft and Skill
Throughout all the pieces displayed in my online portfolio they all demonstrate high craftsmanship and quality. This year I purposefully took my time and learned to evaluate every process I was completing. Whether it was doing a rough sketch, scaling images, or painting/ using any type of media, this year I was taught how to put meaning and passion into a piece to make it the best it possibly could be.

Envision
This year my goal was to find my own personal style and to understand each media we used a little bit better. Though it is only one semester into the school year I feel like I am already on that path to finding my own artistic style. Unlike it Draw/paint 1 this class enabled me to do that by giving me for freedoms to experiment with different types of media. Watercolor for example has been a focal point in most of pieces that I have loved working with.

Engage and Persist
This year I tried to put meaning into my artwork and express my own personal story into the pieces. I also wanted to represent others stories which can be seen the pattern of portraits that I chose to do, every portrait to me showed a trait or element that the figure portrayed. I think art is an incredible way communicate and that was my goal with this.

Express
One media that I loved using in my artwork was watercolor, although it was fun to use I thought that the fluid color and texture was representational to the piece's meaning. This is one reason why I primarily used it on portraits because it was an easy way of showing tone and expression.

Observe
Across all my pieces some observations that I made about my work were that many had aspect of watercolor in them, even in larger scale pieces there were parts where I used watercolor to bring the piece to life and draw the viewers attention. I love using watercolor and hope to perfect my signature style with it.

Reflect
Overall I am extremely happy with the improvements and quality of work this semester, I think that I did a great job developing watercolor color skills and learning more about pen and ink. Although going into the second semester I would like to extend my range of skill and begin incorporating other medias into my pieces. I would also like to focus on detail and high contrasts in value ranges.

Stretch and Explore
My pieces this semester taught me a lot about the types of media I prefer to use, I found them to be ink and watercolor. I also learned more about the impact that art had and how to use that influence in a manner that in meaningful. So I really tried to make each piece mean something and have a deeper understanding behind it.

Understanding the World
Being in a joint class with the AP students taught me the most about the importance of observation. The work the students produce inspired me and taught me to take risks and play around with different processes. Last year we worked on learning from exercises, but this year I think I learned even more through the act of doing and watching other amazing artists.
