As I started to write this I thought about the changed my work has gone through this year. Though in the moment I never noticed a change in quality or focus, looking back I have made leaps and bounds as an artist. From walking in the doors to Ms. Sawyers Class a year and a half ago, to where I am now. I am proud of the improvements I have made and the day to day work I put into the class. Art is truly one of my passions and this class has only spurred a love for it more. I am so excited to see where my future lays, but I know that this class has definitely made a difference in it already.
I pride myself on never taking things for granted, even the small things. One difference I noticed from last year was my dedication, not only did I go through the motions getting work produced, but I focused on intentionally putting meaning into every piece Through doing this I have found what I love illustrating most, portraits and women of color. If you look into the gallery from this year, you'd see a pattern towards the end of pieces surrounding women. I feel that it is extremely important to represent the voices that are not always heard and I use my work to do that. My activism and love for my community has inspired this. Going into AP Studio Art next year I hope to continue illustrating portraits of women from around the globe and using my work to inspire others.
